FAIRfest!

Last June was the official inauguration of the Iowa Sustainable Business Alliance. We partnered with the community of Fairfield and KRUU 100.1 FM, to help host a multi-day, multi-genre festival called FAIRfest. The event focused on national, regional and local entertainment, innovative speakers, artisan food, specialty vendors, cultural events, art and film, with a focus on sustainable solutions, community empowerment, economic equality, and more.

To help introduce the mission and vision of ISBA, Jeffrey Hollender, Co-founder of the American Sustainable Business Council, Co-founder of Seventh Generation, and Co-Chair of Greenpeace USA, delivered the keynote address. He gave a fantastic and inspiring talk on corporate responsibility, net impacts, supply chain distribution, free market, the social fabric of today, and the ethics of sustainable business practices.

FAIRfest is a celebration of the amazing talent and innovative minds of Fairfield. This spring Smithsonian magazine ranked Fairfield #7 on its 2013 list of national Top 10 "Best Small Towns to Visit", one of the country's "most intriguing places to enjoy arts & smarts." Last year, Oprah Winfrey deemed Fairfield "America's most unusual town." FAIRfest is the perfect excuse to come visit!

Stay tuned for news and announcements about 2014's FAIRfest event! We are working on finding speakers on corporate sustainability, social justice, responsibility, entrepreneurship, global solutions, issues specific to Iowa, and more. If you have an idea for a speaker, would like to be considered, or would like to hold a workshop please contact laura@isballiance.org.
